How much does a website cost in Belgium? Prices explained

By Enes, Minds on Web · · 4 min read

From a few hundred to several thousand euros: why website prices vary so much, what you get in each price range, which recurring costs to expect and how to compare quotes fairly.

The short answer

Having a website built in Belgium costs roughly 500 to 5,000 euros excl. VAT, depending on what you need. A simple one-page site sits at the bottom of that range, a complete multi-page business site in the middle, and an extensive site with a blog, several languages or integrations at the top. Custom software and web applications fall outside that range and are always quoted individually.

That wide range is not vagueness. A website is not an off-the-shelf product: two sites that look equally large can involve very different amounts of work behind the scenes. Here is where the money goes.

What determines the price of a website?

  • Number of pages: each page needs structure, design, content and SEO metadata.
  • Custom design or template: a design built around your brand takes more work than an adapted theme.
  • Copywriting: do you supply the text, or does everything need to be written? Copy is often the biggest hidden cost.
  • Languages: every extra language needs translation, proofreading and its own keyword structure.
  • Features and integrations: quote forms, booking calendars, newsletters or a link with your CRM or accounting software.
  • SEO work: from technical basics (titles, sitemap, speed) to keyword research per page and structured data.
  • Revision rounds: how many times you can give feedback before extra hours are charged.

Recurring costs after launch

The build price is a one-off cost, but a website does not run for free. Budget for a domain name (usually a few tens of euros a year), hosting and ideally maintenance. Hosting with a security certificate and backups costs a few tens of euros a month at most agencies. Maintenance with updates, checks and small changes is usually slightly more.

Check whether hosting and maintenance can be cancelled separately. With some providers, the website itself is tied to a subscription: if you stop, you lose your site too. Always ask who owns the domain name, the content and the files.

How to compare quotes fairly

  1. Give every agency the same brief: number of pages, required features, languages and who supplies the copy.
  2. Check exactly what is included: revision rounds, SEO work, forms, mobile optimisation.
  3. Ask about recurring costs and whether they can be cancelled independently of the website.
  4. Check who will own the domain name, the content and access to Google Analytics and Search Console.
  5. Look at recent work and test how fast those sites load on your phone.

Why the cheapest quote often ends up costing more

A website for a few hundred euros can be perfectly fine to get started. The risk lies in what is missing: a slow site on mobile, no structure for Google, no clear button to get in touch, or a template that can no longer be updated after two years. Then you pay twice: first for the cheap site, then for a new one.

So the real question is not what a website costs, but what it should deliver. A site that brings in a few extra enquiries every month quickly pays for itself. A site nobody finds is too expensive, even at a low price.

What a website costs with us

At Minds on Web we simply publish our starting prices: a one-page site from 695 euros, a complete business website from 1,295 euros and an extensive site with a content structure from 2,295 euros, all excl. VAT. Hosting starts at 25 euros a month and is separate from the website. We write the copy for the pages in your package; extra pages, additional content and languages have a fixed surcharge, so you know where you stand in advance. Web and mobile apps are quoted after a short intake call.

Frequently asked questions

Is a website a deductible business expense?

For businesses a website is generally a business expense, but the tax treatment (depreciation or direct cost) depends on your situation. Check with your accountant.

Why do agencies charge such different prices?

Because the content differs: number of pages, custom design, copy, SEO work and revisions. Always compare what is exactly included.

Do I have to pay monthly for my website?

The build is a one-off. On top of that you pay for a domain name and hosting, and optionally for maintenance. Preferably choose a provider where these can be cancelled separately.

Can I start small and expand later?

Yes. A well-built site lets you add pages, a blog or an extra language later without rebuilding everything.
